Diet and Health

n.b. preoccupation with theories about good and bad water, e.g. Sakaltutan women often say to me that the village is so much better for me than Talas, the 2
main reasons being (a) the air and (b) its good water. Talas water v. bad - they say.

Our host at Kepez check throughout note with a long story about Kepez water - so strength-giving and invigorating that it makes them eat (large) meals 5 times
a day. When he was visiting at Sakaltutan he only ate 2 meals a day, and then was not very hungry. Return to Kepez water immediately restored his appetite.
Water at Kepez is well water and looks filthy. Kayseri woman visiting Kepez remarked that Kepez water did not agree with her - I don't think she attributed
this to the possibility of its being dirty and germ laden because of being stagnant, but rather to some idea in her head of its lacking certain properties
that made water agreeable and beneficial to her.
