Clothing
Further to above observation I now notice that several younger women, going to fetch water, are wearing jackets (fairly masculine in appearance), tied at waist
with a belt, over full cotton skirts - knee-length, black woollen stockings, and sabots. So far I've not seen any older women dressed thus; - gelins - girls in
late teens and twenties, I think.
