Alaynl women visiting me. Several married to "ustas". Their husbands had recently left for several months' work in Ankara. Zor - but they send letters and
money. Who reads letters? One woman, gelin of 4 yrs., looking well over 20, says she can read her husband's letters herself and writes to him. She went to
school for 3 yrs.
Daughter of Alaynl 'Muhtar' has been to school and can read and write. She says there are 50 pupils in Alaynl school and of these about 20 are girls.
