Attitude of Women to Urbanisation and Westernisation

Ard - several women, including 3 well over 50, say they have been once or twice to Kayseri. They like to see the city, {turn to p. 187} they say, but it is v.
different from their village. They wld. not like to live there - 'we should be afraid'. Women in the city wear different clothes. No wish to change to West.
style clothing, imi (see under Clothing, 2, p. 129).

Asked me how we shld. return to England - was I not afraid to go in an aeroplane? How many people were there in each plane? Could you see people and villages
below when you were up in the sky? Your mother must be very frightened to go in an aeroplane. They have seen them passing overhead, imi. They said they had
also seen a train at Kayseri, but had never been in one.
