Mersin} - now thoroughly Westernised. Village children as curious about these 3 visitors, as if they were Americans. A group of women came to the door, stared
at the visitors' clothes. - the Mersin woman spoke to them, but they appeared not to understand. Afterwards the village women asked me about these guests, and
were most surprised when I said they were Turkish and that the woman was a former Glverenli.
