Last year he had atl araba {horse-drawn wagon}, 1 ift {pair} horses and 2 ift of oxen. With these and irak {hired labourer} he ploughed his 200 dnm, then sold
his animals - no straw {gl: available for winter feed}, leaving only 1 ift - (gets his irak {labourer} in the village, no sons or brothers to help) - hence
only 1 team of oxen for all his harvesting - 50 days threshing imi - the i(Aksoys) are going to help him .
Reckons he makes 4,000TL a year on top of his food "ev masraf ok" {house expenses high}. He intends to buy oxen as soon as his harvest is in.
3 or 4 years ago he had a debt of 1,280TL and he took in 52 camels{loads} of 35 inik each {added later} [1870 inik - quite likely c.f. Elba aas] and sold them
to ofis cf. p.110
