Thurs Sept. 15th
Visit to find a room. Arrived 5.30 p.m. All men gone to Kayseri for seed.
Muhtar had changed to i(0181 Mustafa Karakaya). i(0181Mustafa)'s mother fed me, along with i(0182 Sleyman Karakaya) and Hoca and Feta {Sosunlu}
(i(0181Mustafa)'s dayzade {MBS}).
i(0181Mustafa)'s guest room much larger but less cushions. Flag not up yet, hanging on wall.

Food - rice (from Kayseri), orba, grapes, bread. morning - bulgur boiled in milk, potatoes
mashed, bread.

Bedding - similar. Guest better treated than grandfather.
Religion - talked with Hoca. See p.23.
Hoca - Halil age 42, of Glveren, where his wife and children live, and his
father is hoca. Father was 4 years hoca of Sakaltutan. Halil has been {hoca} only 6 months,
gets a house and 200 TL p.a. He has 2 brothers, one in Ankara in some office, one in Bez
Fabrikas in Kayseri as a clerk. Halil served 8 years in Kayseri (Bez Fab.) (kontrol), earning
100 TL per month, but he thinks "hocalk iyi". He passed an exam for hocas, apparently.
